Why Did My YouTube Video Get 100k Views?

I don’t get it.

I have a small YouTube channel. Most of my videos get less than 1k views. I’m OK with this. It’s a channel I post to now and then, and just for fun.

Last week I posted a video about how fetch works in JavaScript. I awoke the next morning to 100 views. Pretty typical. I made the video pretty quickly and didn’t expect a lot from it.

The next day, I checked again, and saw I had 3k views. That was a lot. Half an hour later I had 5k. And, over a couple days, the video reached over 100k views. It boggles the mind.

Also, my subscriber count more than doubled. I’ve re-watched the video. It’s not great.

I don’t get it.

But it’s cool.
