Prediction
"Aside from the United States not going anywhere, I would say we expect the economic collapse of China in this coming decade. We've been talking for awhile about how the economic system there is remarkably unstable and we think that they're going to reach a break point as all of the internal inconsistencies come to light and shatter. By the end of the decade, it'll be pretty obvious to everybody that the China miracle is over. As we enter the decade, people are finally, finally starting to talk about China bubbles. If only their problem was that simple!" - Peter Zeihan, Stratfor, 2010
My Thoughts
I spent most of the 2010s hearing about how China was going to take over the world and I believed it. I'd seen how hard working and organized the Chinese state appeared to be. And then, last year, I heard a convincing Peter Zeihan lecture about how China was going to collapse soon because of a population collapse. I thought that made sense, and I spent a few months believing it. And then I realized that Peter Zeihan had been predicting the fall of China since 2010 and so far, China seems to be doing just fine.
